Growing up, the phrase "you are what you eat" was quite common. Usually, it was used to encourage people to eat a healthier diet. A diet that consisted primarily of junk food usually resulted in someone being unhealthy; on the other hand, a diet consisting primarily of fruits and vegetables usually results in a better quality of health. Whether we believe it or not, the same can be said of our walk with God. It pertains not only to what we eat naturally but also to what we do as entertainment. What we spend the majority of our time doing. It is important to consider what we are feeding ourselves spiritually. There are several layers to this, and I will take the time to address some of them.

 

In the sixth grade, I was 11 years old when the Columbine School shootings occurred. During that time, I recall adults blaming music, video games, and movies. As I was 11 years old, I was stating that movies do not cause people to kill each other. It is not true that video games cause people to kill each other. People do not kill each other because of music. Unfortunately, I was unaware at the time that demonic spirits could indeed travel this way. Since Satan is the Prince of the air, it is only natural for him to use the airways for his purposes. In all honesty, I did not realize this until I was in my 20s. I remember when we were kids we weren't allowed to read Harry Potter books. My younger sister brought one home from the library and my mother made her return it since it dealt with witchcraft. There were certain movies we were warned against viewing because they were demonic. Even then I accepted certain things as demonic to some extent. The Exorcist and similar movies I never watched. As an adult, I did not watch Paranormal Activity or any movies of that nature.

 

It would be fair to say that during my 20s, God began to open up my understanding. When I was a teenager, I was a huge fan of the television show Charmed. It was about three sisters who were witches and fought against demons, for those of you who do not know what Charmed was. The three sisters were good witches who would fight against the bad guys, who were demons. Up until the series finale, I faithfully followed this show. Years later, when it was available on Netflix, I was thrilled to be able to watch it. To this day, I am still unable to explain why it did not sit well with my spirit. At the time, I was not saved. Despite having it on, I found myself feeling uneasy, and I turned it off. It was not something I was able to watch. There are other shows that I am unable to watch as well. I used to enjoy watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, and Basketball Wives. Why? Due to the drama, the mess, and the fighting. There are movies that we grew up watching such as Jason (Friday the 13th), Michael Myers (Halloween), and Chucky. I can no longer watch those movies.

 

We listened to a variety of music growing up, including R&B, rap, hip hop, country, and pop. The concept of heavy metal being demonic was easier to accept for me. Due to the amount of screaming and yelling they would be doing. There was a gothic vibe to their clothing. Ozzy Osbourne was known for biting the head off of a bird. I was able to accept that more easily as being demonic. Years ago, I stopped listening to Beyoncé. It is no secret that she has been a hot topic of discussion in recent months. I will share my experience and you can take it as you wish. While I was not saved myself, I had stopped being a fan years earlier. I liked the original Destiny's Child, and when Michelle joined, I liked it as well. I also liked Beyonce when she released her solo album with Crazy in Love. In the video, she says that it is as if she has become someone else. It is as if something else takes over her body. There was no doubt in my mind that it was a demon. Sasha Fierce was the name she had given to that demon. As far as I was concerned that was all I needed to hear. As a result, I stopped listening to her. In 2016, I had seen on social media that this family was upset with her and trying to sue her for using their deceased loved one's audio without their permission. So there I am being nosy and conducting research. I found videos of the young man and he was known for that saying. It’s been so many years I can’t even remember what it was. As I listened to the song, I discovered that she had in fact used his voice without permission. You may not believe it. Many people don't believe in this, but I was attacked by demonic spirits that night, and I have not listened to a Beyoncé song since then.

 

Why is it that some people believe that slapping Christian/Gospel labels on something automatically makes it acceptable? There is no such thing as Christian/Gospel rap or R&B hip hop, or heavy metal. This is a man-made phenomenon that is derived from Satan. To be honest, you should be cautious when listening to singers who claim to be Christian or Gospel. Why? This is due to the fact that many of these individuals are not of God. God has instructed me to stop listening to certain Christian/Gospel artists. The mere mention of God or the mention of Jesus does not imply that they are of Him. However, you remain carnal when you are still justifying this foolishness. We have been called by God to be set apart. What is the purpose of always integrating the world into the church? It is important to recognize that God has nothing to do with rap, hip hop, or anything secular. A true and spirit-filled worship is required of us. There is a lot of wickedness in the entertainment industry. The truth is that many people sell their souls, even though some people don't want to believe it. Most of it is obvious, yet many people refuse to accept it. Doja Cat I’m not sure what she is famous for but she is in the open, it is easier to accept her. Lil Uzi Vert is out in the open. Even Lil Nas X, but Beyoncé is given a pass even though she is out in the open. Even so, your eyes are still blind to what she is doing.

 

Why would God want His people to deal with that wickedness? Why should we  as children of God have our hands in it? As a child, I recall those Saints of God who opposed Stomp by Kirk Franklin. Those very same old saints that you call "old holiness.". Oh, they were too strict, oh it don’t take all of that. Well newsflash it’s going to take that and a whole lot more. They were absolutely correct, and the situation in the church has only gotten worse since then. Demons have gotten bolder and deception is running rampant in the church. It is impossible to mix clean and unclean. Darkness and light cannot coexist. I grew up listening to Snoop Dogg. The people rejoice when he releases a gospel album, however, no godly change can be seen.  Tasha Cobbs and Nicki Minaj, I listened to Nicki before I gave my life to God. She collaborates with Tasha Cobbs, people celebrate, but there is still no godly change. A church is opened by Kanye West and he makes music. Still, there is no godly change. However, when those of us who speak out, telling you not to be deceived, we are attacked and called judgmental. It is not possible for us to continue to offer whatever we wish. As if God will simply accept it. In the same manner as the children of Israel. It became tiresome for God. He no longer found it to be a sweet savor. For whatever reason, some people believe that all of these things are still permissible, and that God is okay with them.

 

A discussion was also held regarding fasting. How to fast and what not to do? According to one group, fasting is merely a matter of not eating. In order to justify this during that time TV and social media were not available. That is obviously true, and that is what you need to take into account. They were not distracted by all of these different factors. It is for this reason that there is such a great difference between the old church and the modern church. It would be possible for them to devote all of their time to God. In my own personal experience, I refrain from using social media while fasting. As part of my devotional time, I watch biblical movies, listen to gospel music, pray and read the Bible. However, fasting from food while still feeding your flesh in other ways does not even scratch the surface of strengthening your spirit man. Denying your flesh is everything that gives your body pleasure. You’re not even suppose to have sex when you are fasting. How are you crucifying your flesh by not refusing to deny it what it wants? It is impossible to hear God clearly with all of those distractions. As I mentioned before, I enjoyed reality television, but what was I consuming? Garbage and junk. They fussed and fought, and I enjoyed watching them. It was drama-filled. On social media, it is so easy to get sucked into a rabbit hole. You watch a video of a Karen. There is now a need for Part 2 or Part 3. The next thing you know, you are on Part 10 and all of this time has passed. What spiritual nourishment did you provide for yourself? Or were you just feeding your flesh? We could have spent that time in God's presence, getting to know him better.

 

When you speak the truth, people often use the excuse of your personal convictions to justify their actions. This does not have anything to do with what we personally desire. It is about what God has said. Herein lies the problem. It is not important to consider our own personal feelings and opinions. God will open your understanding if you ask him for it. I can provide an example from my own experience. One post I read stated that there comes a time when you must stop praying for others. It is a waste of God's time when you do this. As a result, I did not like it and I expressed my dissatisfaction to God. Is there any harm in praying for others? I ask God's forgiveness if I am wrong. Then he revealed it to me, and it was absolutely accurate. According to God, he would allow them to believe their own delusions. Due to their preference for lies over the truth, he is going to give them what they desire. They are turned over to a reprobate. There is no coming back from that. Since he is aware that they will never repent, he does not bother to attempt to reach them. So in actuality it is a waste of God’s time and yours for that matter. I did not comment on the post, make a video, or create a separate post in which I expressed my disagreement. Instead, I turned to God for guidance. If you give God the opportunity to teach you, he will do so. If you are sincere, he will provide you with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that you require. Something that I always say is that God isn't going to tell one group that it's ok for them to do it. Then turn around and tell the other group that it is not ok. God is not the author of confusion. The Bible tells us that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

 

 

In this day and age, we must be very cautious. There is no shortage of false teachings or false prophets out there. It is important that we are aware of what to eat and what not to eat. If they aren't calling for you to repent and change your ways and doings, you need to run the other way. You are sadly mistaken if you believe that you do not need to make a change. A real relationship with God will lead to a change in one's life. You will not always see changes overnight, but the closer you are to God, the more you will see changes in all aspects of your life. We are called to be holy by God, and God has set a standard before us. What are you doing to edify the body of Christ? When you are still carnal minded, how are you strengthening your spirit man and denying your flesh? There are certain things that we should not be involved in. There is so much more to say, and maybe God will allow me to go into greater detail in the future. Those of us who are Saints of God we must be cautious about what we allow to minister to us. Are we feeding ourselves spiritually or just feeding our flesh? The Word of God is alive, the more you study and get in that secret place the more it will open up to you. We can’t pick and choose what parts we want to eat, we have to eat the whole roll. It is important to remember that you are what you eat. What is on the inside of you will show itself on the outside.
