Who's Going to Stand

My question for you today is: who is going to stand when everyone around you turns the other way?

We are living in a time where people no longer want to hear the truth of God's Word. The Bible tells us in:

2 Timothy 3:1-5

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good; traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

At no other time have I seen people rejoice over calling God's true men and women everything but a child of God like they do now. The respect for God and His people seems to have been thrown out the window. I have seen it all over social media. Some of the comments and views expressed are ruthless, so much so that I often take breaks from it. The Bible tells us that they will call right wrong and wrong right. The Bible is fulfilling itself right before our eyes.

Those of us that speak out against the things that are wrong are attacked for standing up for what God says. Personally, I have received messages from people that I don’t even know, attacking me. They put angry faces and laughing faces on statuses that I’ve made pertaining to God. I’ve had people that didn’t agree with me make statuses about what I’ve said and come against it. Yet Jesus warned us of these very things. He told us that they would not accept what we had to say.

I have witnessed other men and women of God being attacked for speaking what God had given them. People have called them witches, mentally ill. I mean, the list goes on and on. There was a prophetess who knew that the Word God had given her was not going to be received. She got on Facebook Live, crying, saying she knew people wouldn't like it, but she had to speak what God had given her.

Another prophetess was also attacked. People were always commenting on her statuses, coming against her as well. I guess the warfare became too great because both of their messages changed. Mind you, I said their messages, because God’s Word hasn’t changed. How many of you know that we still have to stand for the truth of God’s Word? These prophetesses conformed. They became more acceptable to the people of the world. Where they once stood boldly against sin, where they once spoke the heart of God, they took down. They compromised the Word of God.

I can admit that when God first started dealing with me about starting the blog, I was very hesitant. There were several reasons why I told Him no. Yeah, I had the nerve to tell God no. We already know who won that because here I am. I came up with every excuse that I could think of. I knew that what God had given me was unpopular and that people wouldn’t like it nor accept it. I was worried about what people would think of me. I didn’t want people to think that I was angry. I didn’t want people to think that I had something against the church.

What God showed me was that people will think what they want to think and believe what they want to believe regardless. At the end of the day, I was the one being disobedient, so I had to make up my mind to speak what God tells me to speak. The Church has become tainted. It’s not about what God says, but it’s about what the people want to hear. They have become more concerned about how the people feel and what the people think than they are concerned about God. Even so, this isn’t anything new. There are many examples of those that chose to stand for God.

We know the story of King Ahab and how Jezebel sought the lives of God’s people who were standing up for righteousness’ sake. The nation was turning to Baal, however, God still had a people that refused to bow. That is where we find the prophet Elijah. One prophet of God stood on Mount Carmel against 450 false prophets. He rebuked the people because they were caught between two opinions. “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord be God, follow Him, but if Baal, then follow him.” Elijah called fire down from Heaven, proving that there is only one true God.

In the book of Jeremiah, we find the prophet of God. Jeremiah continued to speak what thus saith the Lord even when no one would listen. Jeremiah sounded the alarm, giving the warning of God’s coming judgment if the people did not repent and turn back to God. He was ridiculed, beaten, and locked up because he refused to be quiet. He continued to cry out for the people to repent, and in the end, they refused. Judgment came just as God had spoken. The people were led away into captivity, but Jeremiah was one of the ones who remained free.

The prophet Ezekiel, whom God commissioned to be a watchman, also preached to a rebellious people. Ezekiel’s role was clear: he was to warn the people whether they accepted it or not. God told him that if he failed to give the warning and the people died in sin, God Himself would hold him accountable. Yet if he warned them and they still refused to repent, then the blood would not be on Ezekiel’s hands.

We can look at Daniel and the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were in Babylon, and Daniel refused to defile himself. He refused to stop praying to God. We know that Daniel was exalted above others by the king. The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego tells us that they refused to bow down and worship anyone or anything that was not God. Even when facing the threat of being thrown into the fiery furnace, they held onto their truth, telling the king, “Even if He doesn’t deliver us, we will not serve your gods.” Yet we know that in the end, God did deliver them, and they were also exalted above others. Even the king himself had to acknowledge the one true God.

These are the kind of people that God is looking for in this day and hour. Those who are not afraid to lose friends or even loved ones because they stand up for the truth of God’s Word. God asked the question, “Are you willing to die for the Gospel’s sake?” My mind immediately went to Stephen, and I began to cry.

Stephen was the first martyr of the Christian Church. Stephen was arrested for preaching Jesus and for coming against the religious leaders of that time. The Word tells us that they were cut to their hearts and they gnashed on him with their teeth. Stephen remained steadfast. “But he, full of the Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’” They rushed him, threw him out of the city, and stoned him. “And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ And falling to his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’”

That is also when we come across one of the persecutors of the church named Saul, who we know would have his own encounter with the Lord and become Paul. The thing that I love about Paul is that his mind was made up. It didn’t matter what they did to him or how they treated him. He knew that in the end, his reward was going to be great.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Peter 4:12-14

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye, for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Somebody has got to stand when everyone else takes down. Who is going to stand against what God calls sin? Who is going to stand up for righteousness and for the truth? Who is going to stand for God? Are you willing to lose all that you have, even your life? They used to sing this song: “I’m a Soldier in the Army of the Lord. I got my sword and my shield in the army of the Lord. If I die, let me die in the army.” It seems as if they are few and far between, but I see people that are standing up for righteousness’ sake. They refuse to bow down. They are standing on the Word of God. I have to be honest, it does my heart good to see it. Not everyone has conformed to the ways of this world. For us, it is God or nothing.

There are those that are longing for the truth, longing for deliverance. I know because I was one of them. I didn’t want to hear about money, houses, and cars, because my soul was at stake. I went to church service after service looking for a Word from the Lord. Yet all I heard was everything but what I truly needed. So much so that I thought God wasn’t hearing me. I felt like I was going to lose my mind. Yet I still kept pushing. She didn’t come in preaching about blessings and prosperity, but she came in preaching deliverance.

That’s why my heart grieves when I see well-known leaders purposefully leading people astray. We see the shape that the church is in today. They once preached the gospel, but they have taken down. Those are souls. That is what people are failing to realize. Yeah, you may satisfy your flesh now, but where is your soul going to spend eternity? Then they have the nerve to get mad when we say that God is going to judge it. God is going to clean it up. However, they continue to kick against the Word of God.

1 Peter 4:17-18

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God. And if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

What do you think that means? God is going to judge the Church. Even in addressing the churches in the book of Revelation, He judged them. He judged them and found sin in some. What do you think it means when it says that the righteous will scarcely make it in? God is not playing with us. You can say that God is love, good, merciful, but He is so much more than that.

God is looking for those that are going to stand firm. He’s looking for those that are going to be all in. Those that are concerned about what God is concerned about. They’re not looking to be rich or famous. They don’t care about being popular. They are those that share what thus says the Lord and may receive two or three likes. Yet they continue to declare the gospel. They continue to give the warning. I know that sometimes it can feel like you are all alone, but you are not alone. God still has a people.

These are dangerous times, and things will only continue to get worse. There will come a time when we aren’t allowed to preach and teach the true gospel openly, so we have to declare God’s Word now. Keep pushing. Keep standing. God is with you.

As for me and my house, we will serve God. I’ve made up my mind that it is God all the way. I’m not trying to be popular. I didn’t come here to make friends. I’m here simply to speak what God has given me to speak. Whether people accept it or believe it, that is between them and God.

Again I ask you: “Who’s side are you on?”

As always, I encourage you to get to know God. Spend time with Him. Study His Word. We are going to need God more than ever. He is truly our only refuge. Remember that God loves you, and so do I, with the love of Christ.
